Norman Weight Loss Clinic Set To Permanently Close In 90 Days

A weight loss surgery clinic in Norman shut its doors with no warning and canceled all its surgeries, even ones less than 24 hours away.

This has left many of their patients scrambling for other options.

Mandy Coplen has tried all the alternatives.

Bariatric surgery or surgical weight loss, was her last resort. Her surgery was scheduled for Friday after months of therapy and nutrition classes paid for out of pocket.

Norman Regional Health Systems sent this letter to Journey Clinic patients announcing a plan to "discontinue [its] surgical weight loss options" as of July 8.

All surgeries including ones the next day were canceled.

To prepare, Mandy and many other patients were on strict diets.

“I have not had any solid foods since June 28,” Mandy said.

Norman Regional said in a statement to News 9 that the abrupt change was "essential to ensure a responsible transition and reallocation of resources."

Adding the cancellation of surgeries was a "...very challenging decision..." and "...[they] sincerely apologize for the stress and inconvenience caused..."

Journey Clinic is offering support in transferring medical records and redirecting patients, but will close permanently in 90 days.
