A non-profit foundation located in Edmond is dedicated to ensuring that first responders and frontline employees are receiving support and care during the difficult times.
The Warrior's Rest Foundation sat down with the News 9 team on the Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch to share why it's important to provide care and support to our city's frontline employees.
Brett Key, a co-founder of the foundation, discussed how the foundation is committed to caring for our local firefighters, police, and EMS workers by introducing workshops and group sessions with the hope of breaking the stigma behind trauma based positions in law enforcement.
"We work with, provide training, and give education to first responders and their departments both on a state level and a national level. We give them tools to recognize when their partners are not doing well, if there's something that impacted them, whether it be at work or at home, we have resources available," Key said.
Warrior's Rest Foundation also implements easy and effective methods of obtaining resources for first responders, making the process of receiving support effortless for those in need.
"On our website, a first responder can go there and they can find resources, and there's also the educational component that comes with that. If they just need somebody to talk to, we have peers available across the state that specialize in whatever field they're in," Key said.
