The movie was shot in Oklahoma City, and some of the scenes were shot right near our News 9 studio downtown.
You can see the movie in theaters starting on Wednesday. News 9's movie man Dino Lalli talked to the stars on the red carpet.
The air was buzzing and things were popping with excitement as the stars of the highly anticipated movie Twisters graced the red carpet at the Harkins Theater in Bricktown.
The movie has already premiered in Los Angeles and the UK, but stars Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell were especially excited to be back in Oklahoma where they shot them.
"There's no doubt this is the premiere that we have been looking forward to going to the entire time this movie was made in Oklahoma for a reason. It's about the people of Oklahoma. It's set here in this beautiful place where weather events are stream and and the way people feel about the weather and the weight of people, the community a sense of community here," Powell said.
"I have been so excited to watch this film with the home crowd. It's so special being back here. It feels very nostalgic. I can't believe that. You know, we filmed this film only a year ago and now we're back promoting it," said Edgar-Jones.
This is the second film Director Lee Isaac Chung shot in Oklahoma. The first was the award-winning film 'Munyurangabo'. Mr. Chung says he loves making movies right here in the Sooner State.
"There's something about when I land here in this airport and into this state. I was ready to go when I landed here. I was like, let's get to work," said Chung.
For star Anthony Ramos, this was his first time in Oklahoma and his first evening here was a little rough. "I'm talking about the windows are rattling the doors are like opening and closing kind of and I'm like looking at the waiter. I'm like, Are we are we right? Like Are we good? The waiters like yeah, you know, it just kind of happens. You know? It's all good. We're inside. We're cool. And I'm just like, Alright man, sparkling water then," Ramos joked.
Twisters is not really considered a sequel to the original 1996 film, but more of a standalone movie. According to Hollywood experts, they are expecting Twisters though to be a big hit at the box office.
