State Superintendent Ryan Walters is attracting national attention on social media for promising to revoke an Ardmore teacher's license after the teacher made public comments seemingly in support of the attempted assassination on Former President Donald Trump.

Walters says he will not allow anyone in the Oklahoma education system to show support for violence against former president Trump after social media posts from an Ardmore City Schools teacher went viral on X.

Earlier this week the Ardmore teacher commented on a Facebook post as if upset the attempted assassination of Trump was unsuccessful.

She wrote, "Wish they had a better scope.”

The teacher's post first gained national attention on a popular X account, "Libs of TikTok" in a post that's now been viewed almost five million times.

Walters responded via X, calling the comment unacceptable and writing, "We will not allow teachers to cheer on violence against Donald Trump."

He followed up that tweet with another saying, "She will no longer be teaching in Oklahoma [...]" and promising to take her teaching certificate.

"I think it was absolutely disgusting to see an Oklahoma teacher out praising or celebrating the assassination attempt on President Trump," Walters told News 9 Wednesday.

Beneath his tweets on the matter are hundreds of comments supporting Walters' reaction.

Ardmore City Schools released a statement saying they are investigating the matter and quote "strongly condemn acts of physical violence and any words that seek to encourage it, no matter their target."

"This is incredibly dangerous territory that we're in and it's just completely inexcusable behavior for a teacher," Walters said.

He said the teacher's certificate will be up for revocation at the next State Board of Education meeting.

News 9 attempted to contact the teacher for comment as well but did not hear back.
