What Happens To President Biden's Campaign Funds Now That He Will Not Be Re-Elected

With the announcement that President Biden will not seek reelection, many are wondering who will have access to his campaign funds now. Political Science Professor Keith Gaddie says it depends who is on who the Democrats nominate.

"If Joe Biden left the ticket and Kamala Harris continued on the ticket, campaign funds given to the current committee continued to be used by a Harris campaign with a different running mate." Said Gaddie "However, if Harris and Biden both exit the ticket, those monies would have to be remitted back to donors and then given to another committee. So there are real campaign finance consequences for Democrats. If they were to nominate a new ticket."

Democrats must name a nominee by September so ballots can be printed and sent to absentee voters.
