Police are investigating an attack that killed a man on Monday in southwest Oklahoma City.

Police said the victim was critically injured and found in a shed behind a home. Police have not identified the victim but believed he was homeless.

Investigators are also working to identify a suspect and said no one has been arrested.

Police were called to check on an assault reported just before 8 a.m. at a home near Southwest 29th Street and Western Avenue. Officers found the victim in a shed behind the home, and he was taken to OU Medical Center in critical condition but did not survive.

“Investigators are not clear what led up to him being killed,” said Msgt. Gary Knight, Oklahoma City Police Department. “We know he was in some type of altercation in which he received injuries that ultimately killed him.”

Police will release more information once the medical examiner determines the cause of death.

Police ask the public to call the homicide tip line at (405) 297-1200 if they have information that could help the investigation.
