Oklahoma Contemporary is hosting summer art camps for all kids to get involved in.
Each camp’s focus is different, and what kids can learn changes from week to week. All campers also participate in a guided tour of the Main Gallery to learn more about contemporary art and artists.
Addie Crawford took the Arca Continental Coca-Cola Porch to Oklahoma Contemporary to learn more.
Christine Gibson, associate director of youth and family programs, said they try to find themes and activities that kids do not always get to explore, like sewing, pottery, digital drawing, and more.
"We try really hard to offer classes and camps that have themes that they might not get to experience any place else in the city," Gibson said.
She said they emphasize the artistic process in all of their teachings.
"It starts with an idea and then the sketch, and then they make the components, and then they'll put it all together and then have the finished piece," Gibson said.
Gibson said they offer camps for students ages 5 to 12 and classes for adults; all experience levels are welcome.
