A new arts and culture project started over the summer sharing the forgotten stories of Oklahoma City's black communities.

Leondre Lattimore joined Storme Jones on the Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch to share more about that project.

The project is called Oklahoma City's forgotten black communities. This project started with the Oklahoma Black Museum and Performing Arts Center. Researchers have done a great deal of research and data collecting to highlight these historically black neighborhoods that have existed in Oklahoma City since our statehood.

Why is it important to have this history recorded? Oklahoma, as a state, has a unique history with black black history in general. Oklahoma City is no different.

If you have an organization or community event you'd like to see highlighted on the Coca-Cola Porch, you can submit your story at News9.com/porch.
