"I'm just overwhelmed," Spoon said.
An advocate and content creator on YouTube, Spoon said her platform this year is personal.
"17.4 million adults with disabilities struggle with mental health issues," Spoon said. "It's not widely talked about. Here in the state of Oklahoma, there are no inpatient care facilities that will take someone who uses a wheelchair."
Spoon are her family are getting ready to make the trip to Chicago, where she is prepared to tell the story of her own battle with managing her mental health.
"Just because we have a physical ailment, that we can't take care of our daily living needs, doesn't mean that we don't need inpatient care," Spoon said.
Lindsey is now getting treatment, but she is also working to make care more accessible for others.
"Being able to share what I've gone through has really been able to make an impact," Spoon said. "For that, I am extremely grateful."
The Miss Amazing Queen will be crowned on Sunday.
Lindsey hopes to bring home that crown back to Oklahoma and continue advocating for mental health accessibility in the state.
