Oklahoma City firefighters were called to a house fire near SW 15th Street and Cemetery Road on Sunday morning around 1 a.m.
Crews remained on scene for more than seven hours to control the fire and treat hotspots. Video captured by a News 9 viewer showed firetrucks racing to the scene while tall flames shot into the sky.
Nobody was injured, according to fire officials. The cause is still under investigation.
Mike Little lives several houses down the road and said he saw the homeowners later in the morning.
"That's traumatic when you suddenly lose everything all at once in a matter of hours," he said. "I imagine they're scrambling around trying to get things going again."
He said it was especially unfortunate because the family had finished building the home about a year ago.
"They put a lot of time into it and everything, and just got in," he said. "And now it's all gone up."
He said the lack of fire hydrants in the neighborhood is a concern, but that he saw water tankers respond to the scene.
Little said he and his neighbors are thankful to fire crews for the long hours they spent on the fire.
