A trip to the DMV will soon be a lot smoother. Service Oklahoma is getting a new system to make it easier to get your driver's license renewed.
Service Oklahoma selected a new vendor to modernize its driver's license system. The DMV claims that this will help speed up transactions and simplify the whole process for drivers here in Oklahoma. Service Oklahoma will be transitioning to FAST Enterprises as the new driver's license system of record for the state. This change is expected to make the systems more user-friendly.
Jay Doyle, the Chief Executive Director for Service Oklahoma, says the transition will be smooth as FAST Enterprises is already the current provider for the motor vehicle system.
He says right now customers wait up to 20 minutes to get or renew their license, while in other states, the wait times are only about 8 minutes.
"Really what the citizens really need to know is that when they come in to see us the transaction will be more smooth, they’ll take less time, and the actual physical they’ll get in the mail from us will be more secure and look a little bit different,” said Doyle.
Service Oklahoma says the system will be ready by Thanksgiving of next year.
