With the dangerous summer heat continuing to ramp back up, taking care of your lungs during this hot season is crucial to your overall health.
The American Lung Association in Oklahoma (ALA), a non-profit organization, is committed to keeping Oklahoman's educated and informed about what they can do to protect their lungs from disease and failure.
Since being established in 1904, the American Lung Association is one of the oldest non-profit organizations in the nation that has made huge strides in the health and medical field.
Terri Bailey, the Executive Director of the ALA, sat down with the News 9 team on the Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch to share what Oklahoman's can do to keep their lungs safe through the heat.
"We are just looking at ways that we can protect our lungs because people with lung disease or any type of lung ailment are the ones that really suffer the most during these really high heat days," Bailey said.
"[Heat] makes it harder to breath for people with asthma or COPD and lung cancer. Anybody needs to take their precautions during this time," Bailey said.
