The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office will host its annual multi-agency regional job fair on Friday.
They say this is its fourth-largest job fair, with participation from eight departments, including two federal agencies.
Deputy Alicia Diaz with the TCSO says the event is an opportunity for people to learn about law enforcement. She believes speaking with current employees is the best way to understand the career and its requirements.
During the pandemic, hiring declined significantly, and the TCSO is still working to catch up. While there are currently a decent number of employees, Diaz says it could always be better; the more people they can have, the better they can serve the community.
She says several long-term employees are leaving, which creates opportunities for newcomers to advance within a supportive agency.
“This is a career fair or a job fair for the whole community," Diaz said. "So, whether you’re 16 in high school, just trying to figure out what to do with your life if you’re 30 looking for a career change, or a stay-at-home mom and dad that want to get back into the field. This is for everybody."
The job fair will be at Central Park Hall at the Tulsa Fairgrounds from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.
The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office says it is always looking to hire detention officers and deputies.
