A man is injured after being shot by a woman who police say he picked up in the early hours of Tuesday, police say.

Police say the man crashed his car trying to get away.

Oklahoma City Police say the woman demanded the man's money, then shot him when he refused to hand it over.

Investigators say this all began around 3 a.m. on Tuesday when officers responded to a crash near Southeast 59th Street and Santa Fe Avenue.

The driver plowed through a chain link fence at Southeast High School and ended up on the school's practice field.

"'When officers checked the car they found a man critically injured inside. As it turns out he had been shot," Msgt. Gary Knight, Oklahoma City Police Dept

Police believe the man was the victim of a robbery.

"He was apparently out driving in that area when he let a female into his car, Kight added. "A female he did not know. She very quickly attempted to rob him."

Officers say the unknown suspect then shot the man before jumping out of the car and running off while the man also attempted to get away.

Officers later arrived and found the man, he was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

No arrests have been made and no suspect description has been released.
