One person was killed in a shooting involving Oklahoma City Police officers on Friday morning in southeast Oklahoma City, the department said.

Oklahoma City Police said that they responded to a mental health call involving a man walking in the street with a gun shortly after 3 a.m. near Southeast 74th Street and South Sooner Road.

OCPD said three officers who responded spoke with the man for nearly an hour, attempting to de-escalate the situation.

On two separate occasions, OCPD said less-lethal rounds were fired at the man, and shortly after, the man pointed his firearm at the three officers.

OCPD said the three officers began shooting at the man, who died at the scene.

No officers were injured, and so far there have been no injuries reported by residents in the area.
