Collinsville Police say one person is dead after a crash involving a motorcycle near Highway 20 and Memorial Drive.

Police say the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, and the driver did stop at the stop sign, but officers say even when precautions are taken, crashes can still happen.

Around 10 p.m. Sunday, Collinsville Police got a call about a crash. Sergeant Joshua Ray is one of the detectives who was at the scene.

“He says he didn’t see him,” said Sergeant Ray.

Sergeant Ray said a sixteen-year-old was driving a truck heading north on Memorial Drive. Around the same time, a motorcycle was going east on State Highway 20.

“The truck pulled out from the stop sign into the path of the motorcycle, where they collided,” Sergeant Ray said.

Police say the motorcyclist, Joshua Greene, was dead when they got there, and the teen driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

In a neighborhood just down the street, Andrew Williams works on his yard while his Harley Davidson Sportster 883 sits in the garage.

“I’ve been riding for about three years,” he said.

He takes his bike out every now and then, and said when he does, Highway 20 is part of his route every time.

“Basically, when I leave here, that's Highway 20 right there,” he said.

Williams said he knows how hard it might be to spot motorcycles on the road.

“When I’m driving myself and I see a motorcycle, I try to let them pass...I’m very watchful because I’m a rider myself,” he said.

He and Sergeant Ray believe the crash Sunday night serves as a reminder to be extra alert on the road.

“Definitely pay attention and look twice,” said Sergeant Ray.

Sergeant Ray says Collinsville Police are now working with the Owasso Police Department and Oklahoma Highway Patrol to help reconstruct the accident scene and gather data from both vehicles.
