In an effort to expedite emergency responses, the Green Country Volunteer Fire Department is asking residents to ensure their addresses are clearly marked.

Crews with the Green Country Volunteer Fire Department said they need addresses to be more visible so that they can respond to emergencies quicker.

The fire department is made up of 14 volunteers at their one station, but the team is responsible for covering a large area.

However, volunteer firefighter Scott Bratt says the department has run into an issue where addresses aren't always clearly displayed outside of homes in their area.

"We are scanning and looking for some sign of where we need to go, and if the grass has grown up covering it, that’s going to slow us down a little bit," Bratt said. "If there is no markings of any kind on the gate that may question it a little bit, we'll go ahead if we think it's it and we'll go in."

Bratt said he is asking people who live in the Green Country Fire Protection District to go out and look at your address from the road, and if it is not clearly visible, it may be time to remark the mailbox or gate.
