Thieves in Edmond are to blame for nearly $20,000 in stolen lawncare equipment.

Zach Morris said the incident happened near the end of July after he recently returned from a church camp. The senior at Memorial High School started his own business in 2020 and saved for years to assemble a trailer full of everything he needed.

"As soon as I woke up around 7 a.m., I walk out, start watering the lawn, kind of make it look great," Morris said. "And I turned my head and nothing is there. I'm like, 'Where is all my stuff?' [My] heart drops."

Morris plans to take his business full-time after he graduates in May.

Johanna Belt, a family friend,  started a GoFundMe to help replace the stolen equipment.

"He saved his money and he did it the right way," she said. "He has a dream to do this beyond high school. And that's more gumption and ambition than a lot of teenagers have right now. So, it just made me sad for him because he's worked so hard."

Morris said loaner equipment from other family and friends has kept him serving his clients until he has his own.
