As Oklahoma City Public Schools welcome students back for the new school year, a new after-school program is kicking off.
Naisha Morris from the Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation Department talked about the "Kidz Rock" program on the Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch.
She said the program will be offered at five recreation centers across Oklahoma City.
For $10 a month per child, the program aims to provide a safe and engaging environment for students after school including homework help, snacks, STEM projects, and sports.
“We wanted to keep the price at an affordable cost but still offer that gold-star experience for our participants,” Morris said.
The program will be available at the following locations: Macklanburg Recreation Center, Melrose Recreation Center, Minnis Lakeview Recreation Center, Pitts Recreation Center, and Southern Oaks Recreation Center.
These centers are strategically located to be accessible for students either by walking from school or by parental drop-off and pick-up.
Interested families can find more information and sign up at the Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation website.
