The Porch Visits Remington Park Ahead Of 2024 Thoroughbred Season

Saddle up, racing fans, as Remington Park is set to kick off its highly anticipated thoroughbred season this Friday.

"We're excited to start the 2024 thoroughbred season," said Kelly O'Hara, a spokesperson for Remington Park. "First race is at 6:30 p.m., highlighted by a $100,000 stakes race."

The opening night event will feature jockey Richard Eramiya, who hails from Uruguay. Eramiya expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming season, describing Remington Park as "a great family place" where "everybody knows everybody."

Trainer Jobie Castor, who works with the thoroughbred horses, shared his passion for the sport. "It's just great to wake up every day and be with these guys, and hopefully one of them jumps up to be a racehorse, a winner," he said.

The event is free for attendees, no ticket reservation necessary.

In addition to the opening night stakes race, the Remington Park calendar is packed with exciting events throughout the season.

On September 29, the Oklahoma Derby will take place, complete with a hat and bow tie contest that "everybody loves," according to O'Hara. Other highlights include an Oklahoma Wine Tasting Classic in October and a craft beer festival, all of which can be found on the Remington Park website, remingtonpark.com.
