Cherokee Nation Opens Applications For Tribal Council After Member Submits Resignation

The Cherokee Nation Tribal Council will vote to fill a council position after Council Member Victoria Vazquez announced she is resigning.

Vazquez represents District 11 which includes all of Craig County and parts of Mayes and Nowata counties.

Whoever fills that position will hold it until the next general election.

The tribe will be taking applications through Aug. 28th.

Vazquez's resignation will take effect the same day.
