The Tulsa Premium Outlet Mall has only been open for a few days and has already seen thousands of shoppers since its grand opening.
Leaders in Jenks said the Tulsa Premium Outlet Mall is expected to bring a big economic boost to the city.
The president of development for Simon Property Group, Mark Silvestri, said this outlet mall is a more than $100 million investment, and it’s one that the Jenks Chamber believes will pay off for the city.
“We think this is a catalyst for a lot more, and we’ve seen that in other communities around the country where we built over the last 35 years,” Silvestri said. “There will be more to come, and we have additional land here. We’ve got further deals in the works, and so you’ll see other restaurants and hotels. We’ve got the pickleball concepts going on out here, and so we will definitely see more.”
Jenks Chamber of Commerce board member Kent Clark said the outlet mall is expected to bring in a lot of tax revenue thanks to tourism. Most importantly, it's a big benefit for businesses in Jenks.
“I think a lot of those people are coming in not only for the Aquarium, but there’s going to be more people coming in for the outlet mall, and I think it’s going to impact our local businesses tremendously bringing in that tax revenue for the city, and also generating revenue for local businesses here in Jenks,” Clark said.
The outlet mall has created hundreds of jobs — all the way from construction during the building process to maintenance and landscaping and all of the jobs at each of the stores here.
