Commercial Oklahoma Says Price Tower Will Go Up For Auction

The current owner of the Price Tower said it will soon be up for auction.

A news release from Cynthia Blanchard states that the Price Tower will be placed on the Ten-X Commercial Real Estate Auction Platform on Thursday. The email said the public auction is scheduled to take place from Oct. 7 to 9.

The release states the auction will include the Price Tower but won’t include the art collection. The release states the art collection will be addressed in “Phase 2 of the new ownership transition.”

“This phased approach aims to ensure a smooth and successful transition, preserving the rich legacy of Price Tower while opening up new avenues for growth and development under new ownership.”

“We are committed to securing a fair and competitive sale, and we encourage all interested parties to participate in this unique opportunity to become a part of the ongoing history of Price Tower,” the news release said.

The Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy said Tuesday in an email that it had not been told anything about a sale.

“Our easement states that the owner should promptly notify us in writing of any proposed sale of the premises and provide us the opportunity to explain the terms of the easement to potential new owners prior to the sale closing.

“We had that same opportunity before the Blanchards purchased it,” Conservancy Executive Director Barbara Gordon said in an email.

Below is the original deed to the Price Tower Arts Center, the preservation easement and quitclaim deed to Green Copper Holdings, all obtained through the Washington County Clerk's Office. 

The Washington County Assessor's Office said the $10 figure in the quitclaim deed does not necessarily signify the amount the building was sold for. The office said the only way to know how much was actually paid is through a sales contract. The assessor's office said the county does not have access to such a document, because that remains between the buyer and the seller.
