The Tulsa Regional Chamber hosted Senator James Lankford Wednesday morning, giving business leaders a chance to talk candidly with a member of Oklahoma’s federal delegation.

His visit comes as people gather in Chicago for the Democratic National Convention.

While Senator Lankford spends most of his time in Washington, D.C., he says he tries to travel as much as possible when he’s in town to learn about what’s important to Oklahomans right now.

At the Tulsa Chamber, talk about the economy was front and center—from tax policies to inflation. While the senator is here in Oklahoma, his name has come up at the DNC in Chicago.

Senator Chuck Schumer mentioned Democrats revisiting Lankford’s bipartisan border bill. Senator Lankford says he will work with anyone to address what’s happening at the border. As for the frontrunner for president, he says it’s too early to tell.

"People get more serious about choosing their candidate after Labor Day. So there are lots of polls that happen before Labor Day—throw 'em all away, because post-Labor Day, that’s when a lot of people start really focusing their attention," Lankford said.

Lankford is urging voters to look at the issues they care about and compare the past four years under President Biden to the years under President Trump. Despite Trump’s opposition to Lankford’s border bill, the senator is backing him for President.
