The Republican Party also held a runoff in the Tulsa County Commissioner District 2 race, with the race being called in favor of Lonnie Sims.

Sims and Melissa Myers both expressed that they would be honored to represent Tulsa County's GOP in this race. Both candidates stated that their top priorities if elected, would be infrastructure and public safety.

News On 6 was there when Sims and Myers cast their ballots today alongside their families. Both candidates are married with children and share a strong desire to serve their communities.

The race was expected to be close, similar to the June election where Sims received 40% of the vote and Myers 31%. Sims, a resident of Jenks, and Myers, from Sand Springs, differ significantly in their political experience.

Myers takes pride in her lack of a political background, while Sims has served as a Jenks Planning Commissioner, City Councilor, Mayor, and most recently, as a State Senator.

"When I looked at my community and looked at Tulsa, potentially, we're going to have a new mayor, potentially five or six new councilors, experience is going to be key, and I think the county's going to be the rock to kind of hold things together for a while," Sims said.

Sims and Myers spent the evening with family and friends, encouraging voters and cherishing time with loved ones.
