OSDE Clarifies Law Regarding Parents Inclusion On All Teacher-Student Messages

The state education department is clarifying a new law that requires parents to be included in all conversations between teachers and students.

The state says the law does not apply to teachers and staff when they are related to the student.

The lawmaker who wrote the bill says it is designed to prevent inappropriate messaging between school employees and students.

A study has been requested to look at improving the language of the law.
