Tulsa Traffic Advisories: What You Need To Know (Sept. 4, 2024)

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) and Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) have provided details on several traffic advisories for the Tulsa area and surrounding regions.

Here's what you need to know:

Thursday Traffic Advisories

US-75 Ramp to I-44 Closed

1. The northbound US-75 ramp to westbound I-44 will be closed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday for guardrail repairs.

US-75 Narrows to One Lane at 71st St.

1. Northbound US-75 will be narrowed to one lane at 71st St. from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday for surface repairs.

I-44 Shoulder Closed at 21st St.

1. The left shoulder of both eastbound and westbound I-44 will be closed at 21st St. from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday for barrier wall repairs.

Ramps and Lanes Narrowed Through Friday

US-169 and Creek Turnpike Ramps

1. Southbound US-169 and eastbound SH-364/Creek Turnpike off-ramps to US-64/Memorial Dr. will experience intermittent lane closures through Friday for safety device installation.

SH-66 Near Claremore

1. SH-66 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction near the intersection of Flint Rd./King Rd. near Claremore from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through Friday as part of an ongoing project.

Turnpike Closures and Lane Reductions

I-44/Turner Turnpike Near Bristow

1. Eastbound I-44/Turner Turnpike will be reduced to one lane between mile markers 190 and 192, just west of Bristow, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday for surface work.

I-44/Turner Turnpike Between Luther and Wellston

1. Eastbound I-44/Turner Turnpike will be narrowed to one lane at mile marker 153, between Luther and Wellston, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday for surface repairs.

SH-66 in Wellston

1. SH-66 will be closed in both directions at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3, between the off-ramps for I-44/Turner Turnpike (mm 158) in Wellston. This closure, between SH-102 and US-177 in Lincoln County, is expected to last up to a year.

I-44/Turner Turnpike Shoulder Closures Near Heyburn

1. Motorists can expect shoulder closures on the I-44/Turner Turnpike between mile markers 201-203 near Heyburn through fall as work begins to widen the turnpike to six lanes. Narrow lanes and reduced speed limits will be in effect through the six-mile work zone toward Bristow. Additionally, SH-66 will be intermittently narrowed where it intersects with the turnpike at mile marker 202 through fall.

Ongoing Highway Construction Projects

I-244 Between I-44 and US-75

1. A pavement rehabilitation project on I-244 between I-44 and the Arkansas River bridge in West Tulsa continues through spring 2025. Current closures include:
2. All lanes and on-ramps of eastbound I-244 between I-44 and US-75 are closed through September 2024.
3. All lanes and on-ramps of westbound I-244 are closed between US-75 and I-44 through spring 2025.
4. I-244 is narrowed to two lanes in both directions between US-75 and the Arkansas River bridge.
5. The westbound I-244/southbound US-75 off-ramp to 23rd St. is closed.
6. 48th St. is closed at Southwest Blvd.

I-244 Ramp to SH-11

1. The eastbound I-244/US-412 ramp to westbound SH-11 is closed through late 2024 for a bridge rehabilitation project. Motorists can detour using Mingo Rd. to access SH-11.

US-75 Off-Ramp to 7th St.

1. The northbound US-75 off-ramp to 7th St. is closed through summer 2024 for bridge rehabilitation.

US-75 Bridge Construction at 141st St. in Glenpool

1. Drivers on US-75 should expect narrowed and shifted lanes with a reduced speed limit at 141st St. in Glenpool through summer 2025 as part of a bridge construction project.

US-412 Bridge Rehabilitation at 81st W. Ave. in Sand Springs

1. US-412 is narrowed to two lanes in each direction at 81st W. Ave. in Sand Springs through February 2025 for a bridge rehabilitation project.

Street Widening on 33rd W. Ave. at I-44

1. A street widening project continues on 33rd W. Ave. at I-44 through summer 2024. Westbound Skelly Dr. is closed at 33rd W. Ave.

SH-97 Pavement Rehabilitation in Sand Springs

1. A pavement reconstruction project on SH-97 from S. Main St. to W. 2nd St. in Sand Springs continues through spring 2025. The SH-97 center turn lanes at US-412 are closed until further notice.

SH-97 Narrows at 81st St. in Sapulpa

1. SH-97 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction near 81st St. in Sapulpa through summer 2024 for an intersection improvement project.

SH-51 Narrows at Muskogee Turnpike in Broken Arrow

1. Westbound SH-51 is narrowed to two lanes at the junction with SH-351/Muskogee Turnpike in Broken Arrow through summer 2024 for bridge replacement.

Intersection Improvement at SH-51 and 91st St. in Broken Arrow

1. A speed limit reduction is in place on SH-51 near 91st St. in Broken Arrow through fall 2024 for an ongoing intersection improvement project.
