University of Tulsa Gives Eric Konkol A Contract Extension

Tulsa men's basketball head coach Eric Konkol, who led the Golden Hurricane to an 11-win improvement in his second season, has had his contract extended through the 2029 season, it was announced by Justin Moore, Vice President and Director of Athletics at the University of Tulsa.

Konkol expressed his gratitude, saying, “I’m honored to be the head coach at Tulsa and proud of the progress and culture we’ve built. I’m excited to continue working with Justin Moore to advance our success and contribute to this great program and city.”

The Golden Hurricane, coming off a 16-15 season in 2023-24, saw their largest win increase since 1924-25. The team excelled at home with a 14-4 record and averaged 75.0 points per game, the highest since 2001-02.

Under Konkol, three freshmen earned All-Freshman team honors, a first for the program, and he coached the third conference Freshman of the Year and the first National Freshman of the Year.

Konkol, originally from Amherst, Wisconsin, was appointed as Tulsa’s head coach on March 21, 2022. He previously spent seven seasons at Louisiana Tech with a 153-75 record and began his coaching career at Tulsa as a graduate assistant in 2000-01.
