A significant fire broke out in a barn at Nowakowski farm near McLoud, on Hazel Dell near Highway Drive, prompting the response of multiple fire departments.

The blaze has fully engulfed the barn, resulting in the destruction of some farm equipment and over 1000 hay bales.

Robert Nowakowski said he woke up to a loud boom and the sound of barking dogs. Nowakowski said the barn was hand-built by him in 2011.

Captain Josh Jenkins, McLoud Fire Chief, has expressed concerns that the roof of the barn is expected to collapse imminently. As a safety precaution, firefighters are not extinguishing the fire directly and have opted to let it burn out.

The fire in the barn may continue burning for several days due to the large number of hay bales stored inside.

The chief has assured that no people or animals were present in the barn at the time of the fire, emphasizing that only hay and tractors were affected.

The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.

This is a developing story.
