A crash at the intersection of 71st Street and Yale Avenue in Tulsa on Tuesday afternoon left one pedestrian dead and another critically injured after a vehicle ran a red light, authorities say.

The incident occurred around 1:25 p.m. when a white Honda Accord, driven by 28-year-old Nicholas Stewart, was traveling westbound on 71st Street and ran a red light, according to the Tulsa police. Simultaneously, a maroon Kia Optima entered the intersection on a green light and struck the Honda on the passenger side.

The impact caused the Honda to spin out of control and cross over the center median.
