The National Weather Service survey team found the damage in and near Pawnee to be consistent with straight-line winds from 75 to 85 mph.
The storms that moved through the Pawnee Lake area Thursday had extremely high velocity, but it was not a tornado, according to the damage report.
The Pawnee Nation approved a resolution on Friday to declare a state of emergency for the city of Pawnee.
Pawnee County Sheriff Darrin Varnell that at least one person died as a result of this storm. That victim was in a travel trailer when the storm hit and has not yet been identified. The storm downed power lines, and trees, and caused travel trailers to flip.
