'Disappointed In Not Getting A W:' Venables On Sooners' Loss To Tennessee In First-Ever SEC Game

The 13th-ranked Sooners dropped their first-ever SEC conference game Saturday night, falling to No. 6 Tennessee, 25-15, in Norman.

With the loss, the Sooners fall to 3-1 on the season, 0-1 in the SEC, while Tennessee remains perfect at 4-0, 1-0 in the SEC.

There were 84,071 fans in attendance at Memorial Stadium, marking OU's 156th straight sellout. The Volunteers were also the first Top-10 opponent in Norman since 2017, when No. 5 OU beat No. 8 TCU, 38-20.

Oklahoma held Tennessee to 23 offensive points, nearly 40 points below its season average. OU also held the Vols well below their season averages in total offense, rushing yards and passing yards.

OU has two takeaways in the game (2 fumble recoveries) and is +7 in turnover margin through four games this season. The Sooners have recovered 8 fumbles in four games this season.

Following the game, head coach Brent Venables met with the media to break down the loss.
