Tulsa Traffic Update: Lane Closures, Construction Delays On Oklahoma Roadways (Sept. 30, 2024)

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) and Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) have provided details on several traffic advisories for the Tulsa area and surrounding regions.

Here's what you need to know:

Ongoing Highway Closures and Construction Projects in Oklahoma

US-412 narrowed to one lane at Quanah Ave.

Westbound US-412 is reduced to one lane at Quanah Ave. through 5 p.m. Monday for bridge repairs. The southbound L.L. Tisdale Expressway ramp to westbound US-412 is also closed. Expect traffic delays once reopened.

US-75 (East leg IDL) on-ramp from 8th St. closed Tuesday

The northbound US-75 on-ramp from 8th St. will close from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday for bridge rehabilitation.

US-75 narrows at 7th St. through Friday

Northbound US-75 will have lane closures at 7th St. daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday due to ongoing bridge work.

US-75 off-ramp to 7th St. closed through fall

The northbound US-75 off-ramp to 7th St. remains closed through fall for bridge rehabilitation.

I-44 narrows near US-169 daily through Oct. 7

Eastbound and westbound I-44 will experience left lane closures near US-169 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through Oct. 7 for lighting repairs.

US-412 narrows at 81st W. Ave. Tuesday

Eastbound US-412 will be reduced to one lane at 81st W. Ave. in Sand Springs on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for traffic realignment. The ongoing bridge project will continue through February 2025.

Oklahoma Turnpike Authority Projects

I-44/Will Rogers Turnpike nightly ramp closures

The following ramp closures will take place on I-44/Will Rogers Turnpike for cashless conversion construction:

1. Monday: Westbound on-ramp from Industrial Parkway/SH-10 (mm 313) at Miami and eastbound on-ramp from US-69/US-60 (mm 289) at Vinita, closed 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Tuesday.
2. Tuesday: Westbound on-ramp from SH-266 near Verdigris (mm 248) and eastbound off-ramp to SH-266, closed from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.
3. Wednesday: Eastbound off-ramp to US-69 (mm 283) at Big Cabin and westbound ramps at Industrial Parkway (mm 313) closed 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.
4. Thursday: Various on/off-ramps at Big Cabin and Miami closed 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.
5. Friday and Saturday: Further closures affecting ramps at Big Cabin and Miami from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Muskogee Turnpike narrows near US-69

Eastbound SH-351/Muskogee Turnpike narrows to one lane near US-69 through Friday for surface repairs. Ramps remain open.

I-44/Turner Turnpike shoulder closures near Heyburn

Shoulder closures on I-44/Turner Turnpike near Heyburn (mm 201-203) continue through fall as part of the widening project to six lanes. Expect narrow lanes and reduced speeds. SH-66 will also be intermittently narrowed at the I-44/Turner Turnpike intersection for interchange ramp construction.

SH-66 closed at I-44/Turner Turnpike

Both eastbound and westbound SH-66 will remain closed between SH-102 and US-177 in Wellston for up to a year due to I-44 bridge widening. The closure started on Sept. 3.

Ongoing Highway Construction Projects

I-244 closed between I-44 and US-75

Pavement rehabilitation on I-244 between I-44 and the Arkansas River bridge continues through spring 2025. Current closures include:

1. Eastbound lanes and ramps between I-44 and US-75 are closed through September 2024.
2. Westbound lanes and ramps between US-75 and I-44 are closed through spring 2025.
3. I-244 narrows to two lanes in both directions between US-75 and the Arkansas River bridge.
4. 48th St. closed at Southwest Blvd.

I-244 narrows near US-75 through fall

Eastbound I-244 narrows to one lane at the US-75 junction through fall for bridge rehabilitation.

US-75 bridge construction at 141st St. in Glenpool

Lanes on northbound and southbound US-75 are narrowed with reduced speeds at 141st St. in Glenpool through summer 2025 due to bridge construction. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained during peak hours.

Street widening continues on 33rd W. Ave. at I-44

A widening project on 33rd W. Ave. at I-44 will continue through summer 2024. Westbound Skelly Dr. is currently closed at 33rd W. Ave.

SH-97 pavement rehabilitation in Sand Springs

SH-97 will undergo pavement reconstruction from S. Main St. to W. 2nd St. in Sand Springs through spring 2025. Two lanes will remain open during peak hours.

Intersection improvements at SH-51 and 91st St.

1. Intersection work at SH-51 and 91st St. in Broken Arrow continues through fall 2024 with speed limit reductions in place.
