The Tallgrass Music Festival, a family-friendly event dedicated to bluegrass music, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
Festival organizer Larry Nunley stopped by the Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch to share details about the event.
Held annually in Osage County, the festival features a variety of performances and activities designed to entertain attendees of all ages.
Kicking off the festivities, a free Barn Dance will take place on Thursday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., featuring The Round Up Boys. Guests are invited to enjoy two-stepping, line dancing, and other lively activities.
Three bands will be performing on Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Saturday, four more bands will perform from 12:30 to 9 p.m.
The festival will also honor the Osage Nation during a special celebration at 5 p.m. on Saturday, recognizing the long-standing support of the Osage Casinos, the festival’s presenting sponsor since its inception.
This year, the bands performing will showcase a diverse range of bluegrass talent.
Attendees can expect a vibrant atmosphere with RV camping, food and craft vendors, shaded seating (bring your own lawn chairs), and opportunities for jamming in the campground.
Admission is free for Thursday's Barn Dance, while tickets for Friday night’s bluegrass performance are $10 per carload and $20 per carload for Saturday. The festival promises a beautiful outdoor setting, along with friendly and helpful staff members, all contributing to a memorable experience.
