Public Service Company of Oklahoma is working with Appalachian Power to restore power in Tennessee and Virginia after Hurricane Helene.

Nearly 50,000 customers in the two states remain without power.

Appalachian Power says its workforce is 6,000 strong with crews from 21 states, including Oklahoma and as far away as Wisconsin.

Crews are working around the clock to repair damage at more than 2,300 locations in southern Virginia, southern West Virginia, and northeast Tennessee.

The teams are fixing downed power lines and damaged utility poles.

Since last Friday, PSO and other workers have restored power to more than 81% of affected customers.

83 PSO workers left Oklahoma last week to assist in Florida before joining efforts in Virginia and Tennessee.

Other Oklahoma-based companies, such as OG&E, also assist with power restoration in Georgia.
