Inola Public Schools has addressed rumors regarding harassment of its volleyball players earlier this week.

The superintendent reported that the varsity team was returning home from a game Monday night when the bus stopped at a convenience store in Catoosa. A man allegedly harassed the girls inside the store and followed them outside until the coach intervened, at which point the man drove away.

The school notified parents and offered to meet with them. The superintendent mentioned that some people have claimed the man touched the girls inappropriately and displayed a gun, but law enforcement stated that surveillance video does not support these allegations.

Inola school officials have advised parents that they may choose to pick up their children from events instead of having them ride the bus if that makes them feel more comfortable.
