Psycho Paths Celebrate 20 Seasons Of Scaring In Sperry

A Halloween haunt is opening its 20th season on Friday in Sperry, Oklahoma.

Victor Marquez had a dream to work in horror films and now runs Psycho Path on 40 acres with his entire family. The attraction features The Dark Ride, which takes guests on a journey through the one-mile trail into the wilderness and a haunted house with a twist called The Shadow Box.

The creator’s daughter Victoria Marquez-Hatch brought a few Psycho Path Scaracters to the Arcacontinental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch to celebrate the Halloween Haunt’s 20th Anniversary. Make-up artist Beth Bey and Savannah Thomas helped bring the Scaracters to life during Friday's interview.

Victoria said that Psycho Path began as an outlet for her father’s special effects passion. After helping other haunted attractions with special effects, my parents purchased 20 acres of land near Sperry, OK in 2003. Over two years, they transformed the heavily wooded property into a mile-long haunted trail, complete with hand-built sets. In 2005, Psycho Path officially opened to the public.

The Psycho Path offers plenty of unique attractions including The Scareage ride. It's a quiet, intimate ride through the mile-long trail, unlike traditional loud hayrides. It’s modeled after the "lovers' lane" experience, allowing only two guests per seat to enhance the suspense. Victor and his team of engineers designed the Scareage, and it may be the only haunt in the country with this type of attraction. Guests keep returning for the eerie atmosphere and, of course, the real-life ghost stories tied to the land.

"This year, we’re celebrating our 20th season! We’ve got the Dark Ride and the walk-through haunt, Shadow Box. And for two nights only, we’ll bring back Lights Out in the Shadow Box, where guests explore in complete darkness," said Victoria.
