The Oklahoma City Thunder are in Tulsa for a preseason game Thursday night at the BOK Center, but the excitement kicks off earlier with a special event at BC Franklin Park. The team is dedicating a community court, a project that originally started back in 2016 and is now being revitalized.
During the dedication, the Thunder organization shared that the newly refreshed court will be open to the public, inviting families to come and enjoy basketball activities. The ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for 10:30 a.m., and attendees can expect a lively atmosphere with Thunder drummers, the Storm Chasers, and the Thunder Girls.
Kids will have the chance to play on the court, and youth basketball coaches will be available to lead skill sessions for aspiring young athletes. There will also be interactive experiences, including a chance to compare hand sizes with Thunder player Chet Holmgren.
Following the court dedication, fans can enjoy additional activities at Guthrie Green at 5 p.m., culminating in the Thunder’s game at 7 p.m. at the BOK Center.
