Members of the Farmhouse Fraternity at Oklahoma State University have hit the road to help Hurricane Helene victims.

They've raised thousands of dollars and have filled up four U-Haul trucks with donated supplies.

Junior Corbin Lacy was thinking of a way to help the people who lost everything, but didn't really know what to do.

"Being from Oklahoma it's really hard to help those victims because we don't know what we can do, how we can help them just because it's so far," he said.

He decided to start collecting donations and supplies and asked around to see if anyone would want to go with him to Butler, Tennessee.

The goal was to first raise $5,000, but it's now up to $18,000.

He's spent time talking with people in Butler to know exactly where to go and what to bring them.

"We've just been kind of figuring out what they need for this certain location, we don't want to take 5,000 dollars worth of water bottles if they don't need them," Corbin said.

Pierce Hassen is one of Corbin's friends making the trip.

He says giving back to people is important to him, so finding a way to join the trip was a no-brainer.

"It's fulfilling, you know these people need something, I think about it as it could be a lot worse for us and we need to be able to step up for other people when they are in crisis," Pierce said.

Corbin says everyone's generosity has been one of the best parts about this, and he knows people in Butler will be appreciative of their new friends in Oklahoma.

"We can do something from small-town Stillwater, all the way, 15 hours away, I was just like we have the connections, I have the knowledge from owning a lawn care business, I can run these people if I need to, and we have the connections there now to know we can help them," he said.

The group will return to Stillwater on Sunday.
