Former Oklahoma Sooner Jimmy Crooks was named the St. Louis Cardinals 2024 Minor League Player of the Year.

Crooks had a breakout season in 2024, hitting 11 home runs, 19 doubles, two triples, 62 RBI and scoring 42 runs for the Double-A Springfield Cardinals. He also ranked among the Cardinals' minor league leaders in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, extra-base hits and home runs.

Crooks started 73 games at catcher for Springfield this season, and the club went 45-28 in those games. He also helped lead the team to the Texas League playoffs, as the club was the first and second-half North Division champions.

The Cardinals selected Crooks in the fourth round of the 2022 MLB Draft with the 127th pick. He hit five home runs and 20 RBIs in OU's postseason run to the College World Series in 2022.
