With Election Day just over two weeks away, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are ramping up their campaigns in battleground states.
Harris visited suburbs in the so-called "blue wall" states on Monday, joined by top anti-Trump Republican Liz Cheney. While Harris and Cheney differ on most policies, Cheney spoke out against strict abortion restrictions.
“In places like Texas, for example, the attorney general is suing to get access to women’s medical records. That’s not sustainable for us as a country,” Cheney said.
Their goal is to appeal to moderate Republicans who supported Nikki Haley in the primaries.
"Donald Trump is an unserious man. And the consequences of him ever being President again are brutally serious," Harris said during her remarks.
Meanwhile, Trump is also trying to broaden his appeal. On Sunday, he made a campaign-coordinated stop at a McDonald's in battleground Pennsylvania. On Monday, the fast-food giant distanced itself from Trump, stating it does not endorse any candidate.
Later Monday, Trump visited North Carolina, a key battleground, including a community hit hard by Hurricane Helene. He falsely accused FEMA of misdirecting relief funds, claiming, “They spent a lot of money on bringing illegal migrants, and they don’t have any money for the people that live here.”
Monday night, Trump spoke at a gathering of faith leaders, emphasizing his actions in support of Israel.
Polls show Harris and Trump in a dead heat, with just two weeks of campaigning left and early voting underway in nearly every state.
