The third annual SkasdiCon, hosted by Cherokee Nation Cultural Tourism, celebrates Native influence in the comic-con world, offering a day of interactive pop-culture events.
The family-friendly event will be held at the Chota Conference Center inside Cherokee Casino, located at 3307 Seven Clans Ave. on Nov. 9 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. General admission is $10, children 12 and under and guests in cosplay costumes receive free admission.
SkasdiCon, with Amazon Prime as its “Hero” level sponsor, includes a film screening tent for special viewings. This year’s lineup of films features titles such as “Rabbit Stories,” “Mary Margaret Road Grader,” and “Let’s Talk Cherokee.”
Amazon's sponsorship adds significant visibility to the event, aligning with SkasdiCon’s mission to bridge generational divides by celebrating traditional and modern Native pop culture.
This year, over 60 Indigenous artists will display their creations, and programming will include a cosplay competition with $4,500 in prizes across five divisions.
Panels will discuss topics such as producing the “Spirit Talkers” podcast and developing Indigenous board games like “Winter Rabbit.”
