Playing on ESPN, Tulsa hosted East Carolina on Thursday. The last time we saw the Golden Hurricane play at home, they pulled off the second-biggest comeback win in program history. TU needs more magic down the stretch because head coach Kevin Wilson and his team must win out to make a bowl game.
The key in this one: Limit the Pirates' passing attack, which ranks third in the American.
Tulsa has won two straight over ECU, but by a combined six points.
Late in the second quarter, quarterback Cooper Legas takes a deep shot, and Joseph Williams goes up over the defender for a 39-yard touchdown grab. The Golden Hurricane trail, 14-10.
Early in the fourth, Legas connects down the boundary, and who else but Williams again? What a grab. Reservations for six on a 50-yard strike. Tulsa leads, 31-24. Williams has three touchdowns on the night, with over 150 yards receiving.
With just over two minutes to go, Rahjai Harris breaks off a 24-yard run. The Hurricanes lose this one, 38-31.
