Wagoner Prepares For Christmas Festivities With Parade, Tree Lighting, And More

Wagoner is set to celebrate the holiday season with its annual Christmas Parade, tree lighting, and new festive attractions, including a light-up Bigfoot and Oklahoma's largest snowflake.

The City of Wagoner is gearing up for a festive holiday season with a lineup of events sure to delight residents and visitors alike.

Lights On with Travis Meyer

The holiday season kicks off with the annual tree lighting event on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 5 p.m. on South Main Street in downtown Wagoner.

News On 6's Travis Meyer will return for the fourth year to help illuminate the city alongside Santa Claus, who will be available for free photos at the Wagoner History Center after the ceremony.

Local bands, cheerleaders, Nutcracker characters, and many others will also be in attendance.

Wagoner Christmas Parade

The annual Wagoner Christmas Parade, hosted by the Wagoner Area Chamber of Commerce, is set for Thursday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. This year’s theme is "Let It Snow," and Kevin Grover will serve as Grand Marshal.

The parade has been a cherished tradition in Wagoner for decades, with many attendees fondly recalling their childhood memories of the event. Over 100 participants are expected to join, with many spending months perfecting their floats.

Adding to the excitement, Miss Oklahoma Lauren Frost and Miss Oklahoma Teen Kynlee Schultheis will make appearances, bringing extra cheer as they prepare to represent the state in the upcoming Miss America competitions.

The entry deadline is 4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2. Registration is available online at the Wagoner Chamber website.

New Features

Wagoner is introducing new features this year, including Oklahoma's largest round snowflake, a 14-foot display in Semore Park, and Henry the Light-Up Bigfoot, an 8-foot illuminated figure honoring the city's namesake, Henry "Bigfoot" Wagoner.

Entertainment

Holiday entertainment continues throughout December with a concert by Consumed by Fire on Dec. 7 at the Wagoner Civic Center. Tickets can be purchased HERE. Doors open at 6 p.m.

The Civic Center will also host a performance of "The Nutcracker" on Dec. 21 at 6 p.m. Tickets for the show can be purchased HERE.

Light Trail

Visitors are encouraged to explore the City of Wagoner Light Trail, featuring 160 displays, over 200 lighted snowflakes, and decorated homes and businesses.

Local Shopping

Shoppers can support local businesses by participating in the "Scan for a Christmas Grand" promotion, with a chance to win $1,000 by shopping at participating restaurants, stores, and convenience shops.
