Heartwood Commons, a new cohousing neighborhood in Tulsa, offers a unique lifestyle for proactive adults seeking a close-knit community.
Located along South Quincy Avenue near East 71st Street, the neighborhood features 36 energy-efficient, privately owned homes designed to support independence and promote an engaged lifestyle.
The development includes single-story homes with open floor plans, modern kitchens, large porches, and aging-in-place features.
A Common House serves as an extension of residents’ living spaces, offering amenities such as guest rooms, a shared kitchen for communal meals, and spaces for creative projects, gatherings, and entertainment.
Additional amenities include a community garden, dog park, tool lending library, and workshop, creating a neighborhood that fosters connections and shared experiences. Residents enjoy a vibrant community where spontaneous events, collaborative projects, and mutual support are a regular part of life.
Heartwood Commons was founded by local residents inspired by a cohousing concept they encountered on NPR. After seven years of planning, construction, and collaboration with cohousing experts, the community welcomed its first residents just months ago.
To date, 30 of the 36 homes have been sold, with 30% of the new homeowners relocating from outside Oklahoma.
Those interested in exploring Heartwood Commons, tours are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 30, at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Visitors can tour the homes available for sale, the Common House, and the surrounding community while meeting current members and learning more about the lifestyle Heartwood Commons offers.
