A shooting near the Oak Grove Fire Department left a 39-year-old man dead and another man injured on Monday, authorities said.

Wagoner County deputies responded to the scene around 5 p.m. and learned that two individuals had gotten into an argument in the backyard of a house.

Sheriff Chris Elliott says they both reportedly pulled guns and exchanged gunfire. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said Michael Cady, 39, died as a result of the shooting. The OSBI are now leading the investigation.

The other man was transported to a hospital and is still recovering, according to the OSBI. His name has not been released.

Authorities have not determined which individual is the victim or suspect, and the nature of the argument remains unclear.

No charges have been filed as of Tuesday afternoon.
