Friends, family and law enforcement said goodbye on Tuesday to a Norman police officer who recently lost a decade-long fight with breast cancer. A memorial service was held in Norman for Master Police Officer Jenny Bryan who passed away last week at the age of 45.

Speakers at Bryan’s service described her as a fighter, fierce and determined. The 45-year-old officer left a lasting mark on the Norman Police Department and those she dearly loved.

A large motorcade entered the church parking lot off Norman's Flood Avenue, driving under the American flag. Hundreds filled the sanctuary where they were greeted with Bryan's badge number in her favorite color, pink. A color that signifies breast cancer awareness.

“A fierce ball of fire who never met a challenge she couldn’t concur,” said Glenda Standbury, Celebrant.

Bryan courageously battled breast cancer after being diagnosed more than a decade ago. She never lost her spirit while raising four children as a single parent and becoming a police officer. Bryan entered Norman PD's 54th Academy eight years ago.

“I realized we had hired someone very special,” said Jay Callahan, Retired Norman Police Officer. Tears were shed when Bryan's brother Jeff Moody read letters from her two daughters. “She might not be here physically to walk me down the aisle or hold my hand when I have my first child,” said Jeff Moody, Brother. “But she will always be there with me in my heart.”

Tears led to laughter. One of Bryan's fellow officers joked about her dedication to fitness until the end. “She wanted me to have everyone exercise and I thought lunges around the building were inappropriate,” said Master Police Officer Jamie Crowe, Norman Police Department.

A life of joy that will be remembered and missed. “I love you Fer Fer,” said Moody. “I’m going to miss you so much. Give dad a hug for me.”

Bryan served as a fitness and firearms instructor for the Norman Police Department.

A trust has been set up for Bryan’s four children. Online donations can me made at warriorjenny.com or in-person donations can be made at CA McCarty Construction in Norman.
