A winter system will bring snow to many parts of Oklahoma Thursday into Friday. Southeastern parts of the state are expected to see the highest amount of snowfall.
How are people in Pauls Valley preparing?
Pauls Valley in Garvin County falls, roughly, on the dividing line between which areas will see the most snowfall. People in town said they're prepared for a dusting or inches.
Lisa Finley, who works downtown, said even a little bit of snow causes people to drive poorly. "I don't know either, I don't have four-wheel drive. I used to, but I only used that once. So I hope that my stepdad will drive me to work tomorrow."
Finley said the city tends to streets as quickly as it can when there is snow or ice.
Kevin Arnold, who works as an essential caretaker in Pauls Valley, said some jobs obligate people to hit the road, but people should still be careful.
"Most people stay in," he said. "Other people go out in that crazy road with reason to think they're invincible."
Gas, food, goodies: What are people buying?
Ashylnn Hall, a clerk at her family's convenience store Rapid Roberts, said people are stocking up.
"Everyone is just getting ready to hold down the fort," she said. "Just getting gas, getting the essentials. Running over to Walmart, getting prepared. Walmart's right across the street. So, everyone is just getting ready and getting excited for the snow."
She expects Thursday morning and afternoon to be busier with last-minute trips for people to get gas and other necessities.
"Just don't freak out," she advised. "Watch the weather. Just be careful when you're driving, you know? Just be careful."
