A train hauling hazardous material and alcohol derailed in Purcell in McClain County overnight, authorities say.

The Purcell Police Department said crews are working to clean up the derailment Saturday morning. Railway officials said the containers are intact and there's no immediate risk to the public.

It happened near Jefferson Street, just east of North Canadian Avenue, around 2:45 a.m. Police said clean-up should be completed by Sunday.

"Please avoid the area as crews work to resolve the incident," police said. "We will provide updates as they become available."
