Former Canadian Co. deputy sentenced to more than 5 years in prison

A former Canadian County deputy was sentenced to over 5 years in prison without the chance for parole after pleading guilty to falsifying records involving an inmate.

Deputy Wesley Hunter Junior was arrested in August of 2023 on a second-degree rape charge.

According to court documents, Hunter was transporting a female inmate when he pulled over, turned off his location services, and allegedly assaulted her.

The prosecuting attorney says Hunter "betrayed his employer, his community, and his oath ... by engaging in misconduct against a detainee and attempting to conceal his acts."
